Profile picture
Change Photo to upload, Remove to drop back to your initials. JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB.
Cosmetic, except in a shared workspace where it helps colleagues tell whose conversation is whose.
Personal information
First name and last name, used to greet you and to identify you to colleagues on shared work.
Email cannot be changed. It is your identity in your organisation, and only an administrator can move you to a different one.
Your name here is what other people see. If you want Asteria to call you something else ("Sam" rather than "Samantha"), that is Preferred name under Personalization, not this.
Change password
Current password, new password, confirm. At least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a digit.
If you signed in with Google or Microsoft you will see a note instead: you have no password to change, because your identity provider handles it. To add password sign-in, ask your administrator.
Language
Sets the app's language. Five are available: English, French, Spanish, German and Italian.
The default is Automatic, which shows you which language it picked. Worth understanding, because Automatic means two different things at once:
- The app follows your browser.
- Emails follow your organisation's default.
So on an English browser in a French organisation, you get an English app and French email. Picking a language explicitly uses it for both, which is the reason to set it even when the app already looks right.
Browser notifications
Tells you when something long finishes: research, a document, a data analysis. Genuinely useful, because those can take minutes and there is no reason to sit watching.
Two switches, which trips people up:
The setting on your account says you want notifications.
Your browser's permission actually allows them, and it is per browser and per device.
So you may see "On for your account, but not enabled in this browser yet" with an Enable on this browser button. That is not a bug: turning it on at your desk does not turn it on at home.
If it says notifications are blocked, you refused them at some point and the app cannot ask again. Change it in your browser's site settings.
Show tips
Controls the rotating line of advice under the message box on a new conversation.
Leave it on for the first fortnight: it points at features you would not otherwise find. Turn it off once the tips start repeating things you know.
