The sidebar

Finding your way around: conversations, agents, workspaces, and the links to everything else.

The strip down the left is your history and your navigation. From the top:

New Chat

Starts a fresh conversation: no files and none of the earlier answers, though Asteria can still pull in a summary of past conversations that look relevant. Start a new chat when you change subject, not when you have a follow-up question.

Collections

Takes you to your document collections. If you have not made one yet, this is the thing most worth your afternoon. See Collections.

Platform

Only appears if you are an administrator. It opens the projects surface, which is where API access and its spend are organised, and Organization settings at the bottom of that panel is the way through to the console that configures the whole organisation.

Neither is covered here: projects are in Platform & API, and the console has its own Admin Guide.

Agents

Takes you to the full list of agents: yours, and any shared with you. See Agents.

Searches the text of every message in every conversation you have. The shortcut sits on the button itself: ⌘K on a Mac, Ctrl+K elsewhere. See Searching.

My Agents

Below the links, a short list of agents you use often. A few things to know:

  • Pin to top (the star) keeps an agent at the head of this list. Unpin puts it back in order.
  • The heading reads MY AGENTS, with a Manage link through to the full list.
  • A long list collapses, with a Show 3 more link that names the number hidden.
  • An agent that runs on a schedule gets a Trigger output thread: a read-only conversation where its unattended runs post their results. Open it to see what it produced overnight. You cannot reply there, but you can select any text and forward it into a normal chat.

Workspaces

Your project folders, each expandable to show the conversations inside. The menu on each one offers New chat (inside that workspace), Settings and Delete.

Deleting a workspace does not delete its conversations. They stay, just ungrouped. See Workspaces.

My Chats

Everything not filed in a workspace, grouped under four headings that trip people up on day one because they are based on the last activity, not the start date:

HeadingMeans
TodayLast message today
This WeekIn the last seven days
This MonthIn the last thirty days
Older ChatsEverything before that

So a conversation you started in January and replied to this morning appears under Today. That is deliberate: it puts what you are actually working on at the top.

Nothing is auto-archived and nothing expires, with one exception: temporary conversations, which delete themselves and are marked so you can tell.

What you can do to a conversation

Hover over any conversation and open its menu:

  • Rename. Asteria names conversations for you from the first message, usually reasonably. Rename anything you will want to find again.
  • Move to workspace. Files it under a project.
  • Share to workspace / Make private. Only for conversations already inside a shared workspace. This controls whether the other members can read that particular conversation. See Workspaces.
  • Delete. Permanent. The messages and any files you uploaded in that conversation go with it, and there is no undo and no bin.

Deleting a conversation also breaks any share link you created for it. If a colleague still needs it, check before you tidy up.
