Workspaces

Grouping a project's conversations so they share instructions, collections and documents.

A workspace is a folder for conversations that belong to the same project. It is more than tidiness: everything in a workspace can share context.

When you want one

You have been on the same project for three weeks, it has generated eleven conversations, and you keep re-explaining the same background at the top of each one. That is the moment.

Creating one

Click the + beside Workspaces in the sidebar, give it a name and a short description, and it appears in the list. Start conversations inside it with New chat on the workspace's menu, or move existing ones with Move to workspace.

What a workspace carries

Open a workspace and click Settings:

Instructions. Guidance added to every conversation in this workspace, automatically. This is the feature that earns the workspace its keep. Put the background you are tired of retyping here:

This project is a rebrand for a B2B fintech client, launching in March. Their audience is finance directors at mid-sized firms. Keep the tone formal but not stiff. Budget is tight, so flag anything expensive.

Default agent. New conversations here start with a chosen agent rather than plain Asteria.

Pinned collections. Collections that are always in scope here, so you do not have to name them in every message. (Everywhere else, you do. See Asking a collection questions.)

Shared documents. Files that belong to the project rather than to one conversation.

Searchable shared library. Turn this on and the workspace's shared documents become a searchable collection of their own, so members can ask questions across all of them at once. Only documents marked as shared are included.

Sharing a workspace with your team

Add people under Members. They see the workspace and can work in it.

Who sees what

This is the part worth reading twice, because it is not all or nothing.

The workspace has a default sharing setting, chosen by its owner: new conversations added to it are either private by default or shared by default. Whichever it is, you can change any individual conversation with Share to workspace or Make private on its menu in the sidebar, and each conversation is labelled Shared or Private so you can tell at a glance.

So a shared workspace can hold conversations only you can read. Half-drafted thinking stays private; the conversation you want the team to see gets shared explicitly.

Only the workspace owner can change the default sharing setting. If you are a member and the default is "shared", assume anything you start here is visible to the other members unless you make it private.

Deleting a workspace

Deleting the workspace does not delete its conversations. They survive, ungrouped, in My Chats. The instructions, pinned collections and shared documents are what go away.
